Their are a number of ways of making money from your website. However, to make money effectively, it is important to target your methods to a precise audience. That is to say the products and services you advertise should be in keeping with the content on your site.
For example, if you have a web site dedicated to your favourite pop group you could consider schemes advertising or selling CD's, books or concerts by the group. In fact, appropriate schemes actually enhance the interest of your site.
1. Direct Sales
Obviously, if you are a business you will use your site to sell your own products and services.
2. Affiliate Schemes
The following sites list affiliate schemes. If you have a website check these sites out to see if you can link up with a company that will pay you to sell their products.
1. Commission Junction
This is an excellent site that enables you to search for suitable affiliate schemes by category and type using the simple search box below. However in addition to listing appropriate schemes it also acts as a one stop shop. This means you can choose your schemes, find out more information on them, join them and get appropriate links and banners all at the same time. They also administer all schemes chosen through them together. This means that instead of accumulating a few pounds from a few affiliate schemes and waiting ages for them to be paid out because you never reach the minimum payout level, they amalgamate all your earnings together. This is an excellent site both for those looking for affiliate schemes to join and for those looking to offer the schemes as they handle all the administration for you. Rating 10/10
As an affiliate content site of Commission Junction, you can manage and monitor hundreds of merchant partnerships through a single web-based interface for FREE. The service delivers everything you need to seamlessly work with multiple merchants, including one interface, one i.d., one password, one contract, one help desk, and one aggregated monthly commission check. Whenever you refer a new affiliate to program, through this site, you receive $1. You also receive 5% of that affiliate's earnings for the duration of your program and as long as that affiliate is active, even if they sign up with other merchants. Commission Junction is the only program that offers a two-tier residual income for life! You can leverage your existing affiliates to recruit even more affiliates for your program and they receive the same $1 bounty and 5% residual.
This is another excellent site that lists affiliate schemes and has a mass of very useful tools and information for webmasters. If you have a website check this site out. Rating 8/10.
This is a very good site that lists affiliate schemes of primary use to the UK. Rating 7/10.
This is the US equivalent of the associate programs site. Both are maintained by Fox Tucker. It lists a lot more schemes but many of these are not really suitable for the UK. Some programs are listed more than once and this makes the site more untidy than the UK equivalent. Rating 6/10.
7.Cyberclicks
3. Advertising
This method consists of advertising products on your website in the form of banner advertising. When visitors click on the banner advert they are taken to the advertisers web site and you earn on a pay per click basis. The sums are small, normally just a few pence. However, if you attract enough visitors, keep the adverts in context with your site these sums can add up over time.
